Our Story

Daren Anderson is President of Big D Auctions, Inc. in Hartford, SD. He graduated from the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA, in October 2021. He started his company shortly thereafter with a two-fold mission – one to hold in-person and online auctions dealing with estates, antiques, and farm equipment; the second to help other auctioneers with technology using his experience in the technology arena. Along with being a member of the NAA, Mr. Anderson also is a member of the following state associations: SD, IA, MN, KS, NE, CO, TX, and WY, attending most of their conventions and participating in their Rookie auctioneer contests. In May of 2022, he attended World Champion Ringman College in Dallas, TX, as well as attended an Advanced Bid Calling seminar in Des Moines, IA, in July of 2022.

Mr. Anderson is also President of Big D Technology Solutions, Inc. in Sioux Falls and has over 35 years of experience in the Information Technology field. In 2020, he started Memorials First, Inc., which specializes in taking care of gravesites/headstones at many local cemeteries. Daren is a graduate of Dakota State University in Madison, where he received his master’s degree in Information Systems with an emphasis in E-Commerce, Networking, and Databases. He received a double Bachelor’s Degree from National American University. In 2013, he graduated from Leadership Sioux Falls, a program from the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber.

Daren is an active volunteer in several community organizations, including LSS, School-based mentoring (24 years), Sons of the American Legion Post 911, American Legion Riders, Patriot Guard, as well as the Hartford, Tea, Brandon and Harrisburg, SD Chambers. In the past, Daren was the Chair of the Sioux Falls SCORE Chapter and was heavily involved with the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber serving on different committees, including Small Business, Diplomats, and Agribusiness. He was recognized as Diplomat of the Year (four years) as well as being a team captain. Daren has served on many different Chamber Appeals campaigns. Daren is an avid historian of the downtown Sioux Falls area, specifically Fenn’s Bros giving many large presentations and sharing his knowledge via social media as well as writing a chapter for the book – “City of Hustle – A Sioux Falls anthology”
